Maria Flordeluna - 1st Episode - 02/12/2007

MFDL started with a so-so pilot. I was disappointed with the musical scoring though. They played the same verse of a song after stopping it for 2 minutes, then they play it back again 

Visuals weren't that spectacular either. It was typical soap opera camera angles. Jerry Sineneng needs to upgrade his camera angles. Overused, old. Tired.

The story itself pretty cliche, opposites attract, ambitious mother gets in the way and wants to marry her daughter to a rich guy, unrequited love. [ooh while I'm typing I just realized, LES MISERABLES!]

The saving grace of the episode were the actors and their characters.

Jo (Eula Valdez) is frank, "palaban", pala-sagot" lahat na ng pala! I love that she speaks her mind and isn't too Maria Clara! Aba, if I was in her shoes, I would have kissed Leo Alicante too!

Nash Aguas at a very young age is already a skillful actor.  He properly delivered his lines, without fumbling unlike most child actors and he conveyed the proper emotion warranted by the scene.

  Eliza Pineda needs to step up to the plate. She's mediocre at best. She's a pretty girl, but she's the weakest actor in the series so far, and she's playing the title role! I saw her guesting on the Buzz with Kristel Fulgar and she was TOTALLY overshadowed, acting-wise.

Vina Morales did a decent job. She could have done a better job though. She's been in the industry for so long but she's still way too conscious of the camera. :x

 

Leo Alicante (Albert Martinez) a man of few (no) words. There are times when he seems too "robotic," but when he needs to convey an emotion, Albert delivers! The Leo character is just so Benicio, nakakamiss tuloy si Katherine!

 

Mind-Bogglers: 

  • Tunay bang may bulaklak na Flordeluna or gawa-gawa lang?
  • Bakit ang bilis nalasing ni Elvira? She seemed sober and in control 5 minutes before her "breakdown"
  • Is Eula Valdez wearing contact lenses?
  • BAKIT ANG GWAPO-GWAPO ni ALBERT MARTINEZ?!?

dahil sa idol ko si leo alicante inabangan ko. ang ganda ng show. wala bang 2nd episode sana sali nyo si ronald jaimeer humarang idol ko rin sya eh……/
